Vaclav Havel – Vaclav Havel, was a political dissident, writer, political prisoner. His plays had been banned. He signed the greatly maligned Charter 77. He was in and out of prison for his opposition to the government, the longest period being about four years in prison. In November 1989, he would be a prominent figure in a movement to oust the Communist Part of Czechoslovakia from power. By the end of the year, he was made President of the Czechoslovak Federal Assembly by unanimous vote.
