Carp
December 16, 2011
Allan Stevo
Over the next week tanks full of carp will pop up around Slovakia – in Christmas markets, out in town squares, even in the middle of big grocery stores. Bath tubs will go out of service in order to accommodate the new family pet as it awaits its place at the center of the table on Christmas Eve.
I’m reposting this popular article on the tradition of Christmas-time carp in Slovakia. Next week, I’ll repost another article that has been popular over the past year – “A Random Collection of Slovak Christmas Traditions Circa 2010.”
